The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has formally released the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2026 Local Government Elections, signaling the commencement of electoral preparations across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas.
Announcing the timetable in Yola, ADSIEC Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Umar, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to conducting credible and transparent elections. He noted that all activities will be guided by three key legal instruments: the ADSIEC Law, the Electoral Act, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Umar further emphasized the relevance of Section 150(1) of the Electoral Act, which mandates state electoral commissions to align their election timelines with those of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He described this provision as an important step toward achieving uniformity and strengthening the electoral framework nationwide.
With the release of the timetable, political parties, aspirants, and other stakeholders are expected to commence their preparations ahead of the 2026 polls. ADSIEC assured citizens of its readiness to deliver free, fair, and peaceful elections, and called for public cooperation to ensure a smooth electoral process.
